Van Collides With Tree In Joliet

There was a vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon (April 29, 2014) in Joliet after which a man died.

This accident happened at approximately 2:00 p.m. as a van was heading south on Wesmere Parkway left the roadway and struck a tree just to the north of Twin Lakes Court.

According to the Will County Coroner’s Office, the driver was identified as David Herrera, 56, of Joliet.  He was pronounced dead at 2:34 p.m. after being taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.

Roechner said it’s unclear whether the crash killed Herrera, or whether his death was the result of a medical emergency. Roechner said Herrera’s sister arrived on the scene after the crash, telling police that he had undergone a heart transplant in November and suffered from medical conditions.

Roechner said it did not look like Herrera made any attempt to stop the van before it struck the tree.

Joliet Accident In Which Driver Falls Asleep At The Wheel

On Tuesday (April 29, 2014) morning there was an accident caused when a man (allegedly) “fell asleep at the wheel” and crashed into a mail truck on Glenwood Avenue in Joliet.

According to Joliet Police, the driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
