Fatal Motorcycle Crash In Joliet Township

There was a fatal motorcycle accident early Saturday morning (June 25, 2016) in Joliet.

This motorcycle accident involved a motorcycle leaving the roadway and crashing into a ditch.  The reason for this loss of motorcycle control is currently undisclosed.  The accident happened in the 1700 block of W. Laraway Rd.

The motorcyclist was identified as John S. Mitchell, 33, of Monee.  He was declared dead at 5:30 a.m. by the Will County Coroner’s Office.

Fatal Car Accident In New Lenox

There was a fatal vehicle crash Saturday (June 25, 2016) in New Lenox.

According to the Will County Coroner’s Office, the crash happened in the morning as a vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree at Francis Road and Woodside Drive.

The driver was identified as Tyler H. Tsokatos, 21, of New Lenox.  He was pronounced dead after being taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

The Will County Sheriff’s Police are investigating the crash. An autopsy was performed today, and the cause of death was determined to be multiple injuries from the crash. A toxicology report is pending.

Fatal Bicycle Accident In Morris, Illinois

There was a bicycle accident Tuesday night (June 21, 2016) in Morris, IL after which two bicyclists died.

The Grundy County Coroner’s Offices says the accident happened at approximately 7:00 p.m., in the 4500 block of Old Stage Road.  At that time, the westbound bicyclists were struck from behind by an SUV driven by a 16-year-old teenager from Morris.

The two people riding their bicycles were identified as Mark and Janice Wendling of Morris.  Mark Wendling was pronounced dead at the accident scene by the Grundy County Coroner.  Janice Wendling was airlifted from the accident scene, but died from her accident injuries shortly after being taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Both Mark and Janice Wendling were wearing bicycle helmets at the time of the accident.

The driver of the SUV was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Motorcycle Accident On River Road In Joliet

A motorcyclist was injured Friday (June 17, 2016) in Joliet during a “head-on” collision in a car-motorcyle crash.

According to Joliet Police, the accident happened at 4:50 p.m., as the motorcyclist was riding southbound on River Road, between Theodore Street and Riviera Boulevard.  At that time, a Nissan Altima made a left-hand turn immediately in front of the motorcycle, and the head-on collision occurred.

The name of the 38-year-old man was not available. But Joliet police said Saturday that he was being treated in the neurological intensive care unit at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center.
