There was a fatal “head-on” collision between a car and a bus on Wednesday (February 12, 2014) morning in Romeoville, Illinois.
This fatal “head-on” crash happened at approximately 9:10 a.m., at Renwick Road and Rankin Drive. The accident happened when a Kia Rio was traveling eastbound on Renwick, and for reasons unknown, crossed into the westbound lanes, into the path of an oncoming Pace bus. The Kia hit the bus in a direct frontal collision, and then the Kia hit another car.
The driver of the Kia had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was then taken to Provena St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 12:09 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner’s Office. His identity has not yet been released, other than he was a 67-year-old man from Oak Forest.
Three other people, including the Pace bus driver, a bus passenger, and the driver of the other car were also taken to Saint Joseph’s, where they were treated and released.
The Romeoville Police Department is investigating the crash and its causes.
