Will County Sheriff’s police said a 31-year-old Lockport man spent hours drinking with a friend before intentionally lying down in the roadway, where he was struck and killed late Monday night in Rockdale.
The Lockport man who was killed was identified as Daniel Lietke.
The driver of the car that struck Lietke was identified as Vernon Howard, 37.

There was a hit & run accident in Joliet, Illinois on Friday, June 20, 2014 that seriously injured an 11-year-old boy.
The boy was crossing Comstock Street at approximately 6:30 p.m., when he was struck by a hit & run driver who was driving an SUV. At the time of the accident, the SUV was driving northbound.
The boy was first taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital, but then airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
